DPA Has Elements of Fantasy, Surreal, and Dream-Like Quality
Welcome to the Sound Of Hope Radio network, This is Catherine Hennessy and in this program we will be covering the Divine Performing Arts in Chicago’s Civic Opera House on December the 27th frist matinee at 2PM.
The Divine Performing Arts have, as of the 29th, completed tours in Chicago, San Diego, Jacksonville and Durham. Attending the Chicago first matinee performance were Scott and Jacquelyn. Scott is a law student in Chicago. Jacquelyn is a Chinese History Major student in Nortedan. Scott has an eye on the vibrant and colorful assets in the show. Jacquelyn got the insight to some of the Chinese culture, some of the histories, and the story like The Yellow Emperor at the opening set called ‘The Five Millennia Begin.’ She is so thrilled that the stories she heard about a lot from the text books brought to live. She is excited that the performances bring to visual and give her a taste of life. Jacquelyn commented that Divine Performing Arts definately has elements of fantasy, surreal, and dream-like quality.
Scott and Jacquelyn both were delighted to share their thoughts and experiences with SOH reporter.
We’ll now listen to their feelings and insights about the show.
The guiding mission of Divine Performing Arts is to rediscover and renew humanity’s true, rightful cultural heritage. The company thus creates and performs works that center upon the true, divinely bestowed culture of humankind, and seeks to provide an experience of consummate beauty and goodness.
While it is in Classical Chinese dance that the artists of Divine Performing Arts have their foundational training, the company’s performances include as well Chinese ethnic and folk dance making for an utterly unique vision of Chinese traditional culture that is at once both faithful and innovative. The resulting productions are something audiences of any background can readily appreciate and find refreshing.
The vocal soloists of Divine Performing Arts are elite singers who perform throughout the year on many of the world’s greatest stages and who have been highly accalimed by audiences and critics alike.
The Diving Performing Arts Orchestra begins with a classical Western orchestra as its foundation and augments this with traditional Chinese instruments, enabling its compositions to at once mine the potential of Western orchestra music and yet be rich in Chinese qualities. Its members include persons with current position in well-known symphony orchestras in the United States; the elite among accomplished, US-based artists from mainland China and Taiwan; and first and second rank national-level performers from mainland China with a wealth of experience. They share in a strong commitment in renewing the classical arts.
The Divine Performing Arts troupe is currently scheduled to tour in Los Angeles’ Pasadena Civic Auditorium from the 30th – 4th January; Detroit’s Ford Community & Performing Arts Center from the 30th – 31st; and New York City’s Brooklyn in the Howard Gilman Opera House from the 3rd – 4th January.
