Welcome to the Sound Of Hope Radio network, my name is Daniel Teng and in this program we will be covering the Divine Performing Arts in San Francisco’s War Memorial Opera House on Sunday the 11th January.

The Divine Performing Arts have, as of January 15th, completed tours in Toronto, Boston and Cupertino. Attending the afternoon performance in San Francisco was Roger who is a former public servant and college professor, he’s currently an author.

Roger currently writes books about the Chinese Communist Party and the effect it has had on China and its people. He says the performance is splendid and espouses many of China’s traditional virtues. It also subtly reveals some of the harsh realities of communist China and the contrast it has with the 5000 years of China’s pre-communist culture and history.

The advent of communism in China resulted not just in a change of government, but a loss of culture, spirituality, and identity of the Chinese people. Much of what is seen in the Divine Performing Arts was lost in mainland China during the Cultural Revolution. Beliefs in Buddhism, Daoism and Confucianism were actively suppressed, as well as artworks, books, martial arts, cultural relics and historical records. The Divine Performing Arts seeks to recover some of these lost aspects of ancient China and present them to the world.

The three companies of the Divine Performing Arts are scheduled to tour the following three locations: Montreal’s Place de Arts from the 16th – 18th January; Seattle’s Paramount Theatre on the 18th; and Portland’s Keller Auditorium on the 20th January.
