Hello and welcome to the SOH Radio Network. my name is Grace Mann.  Today I am hosting the final Divine Performing Arts show coverage recently staged in Montreal, Canada.

Before introducing you to our interviewee who attended the above DPA performance, I would like to treat you to a brief overview of traditional Chinese music.

Chinese music experienced its first breath of life, complete with musical theory and sophisticated musical instruments at the dawn of China’s millennia-long history.  It is said that orthodox ritual music advocated by Confucius was largely responsible for this Chinese interest in and mastery of music. The imperial court in the Han Dynasty set up a Music Bureau, which was in charge of collecting and editing ancient melodies and folk songs. During the Tang Dynasty, its court organized the Pear Garden Academy song and dance troupe which cultivated a large number of musicians and laid a firm foundation for Chinese music.

The variations of rhythm and tempo, tone quality and accompaniments in traditional Chinese music are highly distinctive and unlike their Western counterparts, due to the unique sounds and playing styles of traditional Chinese musical instruments.

Chinese musical instruments can be divided into four basic categories based on the method by which they are played: blown, bowed, plucked, and struck (i.e. percussion) instruments.

Akin to traditional Chinese orchestras, The Divine Performing Arts orchestras, which are Western orchestras, skilfully incorporate different traditional Chinese musical instruments within their every orchestral score.

From to the brilliant arrangements by the DPA orchestras, the perfected solo renditions of the talented  instrumentalists and vocalists, to being danced to by precision dancers and through the displayed mastery of energetic drummers,  you will experience the pure, unique and amazing sounds of Chinese traditional music.

This rich and beautiful Chinese music that emerged throughout China’s cultural ethnicity is honoured and revered within every performance of the Divine Performing Arts, thus creating a harmonious and beautiful auditory atmosphere for all audience members.

And now, Harry Feldman, Company President of his Canadian oil and gas exporting business, gladly shares some of his highlight experiences of the above mentioned DPA show
