DIVINE PERFORMING ARTS MELTS FROSTY MINNESOTA
Welcome to frosty Minnesota. I am Corinne Malaske for SOH Radio Network.
Monday’s warmth gave way to a big temperature drop tuesday. People in Minnesota lived up to their reputations by attending the Divine Performing Art Chinese New Year presentation at the Northrup Theater in spite of frosty cold. The theater is located on the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.
Inside the theater there was an array of color, light and sounds of warmth to melt the frost and chase the cold away. One person told me it was so cold, she could feel her small nose freezing. Her nose was so cold that she was afraid it would fall right off her face after walking only a few blocks. She had to check and make sure it was still there. We had a great laugh about that.
Tonight’s performance treated audiences to a tremendous emotional range of numbers. We saw legends come to life and dance across the stage. Some very powerful serious pieces, as well. The power of the baritone and suprano was tremendous and the orchestra was very impressive.
Jennifer Kasal works for WCCO television here in the twin cities. We talked about the programs during intermission. The clear favorite during the first half was the Falun Gong piece – Heaven and Earth. An emotional piece that she found good, inspiring and powerful.
This has been Corinne Malaske for SOH Radio Network. Be sure to hang on to your noses. Information on upcoming shows can be found at www.ticketmaster.com and www.divineperformingarts.com. Goodnight!
