The world renowned Shen Yun Performing Arts presented their first show of the new touring season in Augusta city, USA, on December 19. SOH interviewed Ms Zhang Tiejue, director of Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company, who revealed that the show of the new season has an entire new program. She said that while continuing the mission of reviving a divine artistic tradition, the show will bring an all new visual impact accompanied by live orchestra, to audience members from the young to the elderly.
Augusta in the U.S. state of Georgia is the first stop for the 2010 global tour of Shen Yun. The show has been enthusiastically welcomed by citizens and the mayor, who thanked the local organizers for,“bringing this magical event to our city.”
The performers of Shen Yun expressed their joy, and felt the first show of the 2010 season held significant meaning.
The director of Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company Ms Zhang Tiejun communicated the emotions of the performers.“We are also very excited. Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company has performed for the first time in the city of Augusta, and it was the first stop of our global tour, the first stop of the 2010 season, so it holds special meaning.”
In performances during previous years, the show has interacted well with audience members. Many people expressed they felt the performers took them into a world of paradise, and were reluctant to leave upon conclusion of the show. The program for this year is all new, and the performers anticipate spreading the revival of culture and tradition, while giving audience a fresh and astounding visual enjoyment.
“We have new productions in our program, but our essence and the central theme would never change. That essence is 5000 years of traditional Chinese culture, a divine culture, this is our greatest and most beautiful element. Our dance performances are centered around classical Chinese dance. Of course we also present some ethnic folk dances. Also, our musical program are all new this year, including the Erhu piece, they are all new compositions.”
On the basis of three performance troupes and two live orchestras in the last season, there is now an additional orchestra on tour. Therefore every performance will be with live musical company. A touring performance of this scale has been unprecedented in history.
“Yes! Our performance is quite magnificent, because the live orchestra gives our audience a big surprise. They feel it is powerful and grandeur.”
Many artists who have seen Shen Yun have expressed, for a touring performance group, it is very difficult to have a live orchestra of this scale, and is not something that can be achieved by an ordinary performance troupe. The orchestra company combines incredibly seamlessly with the stage performances, according to audience feedback. The orchestra of Shen Yun Performing Arts is a example of successful combination between instruments from both the East and West. It is creating a whole new path for the music industry, and taking it towards new heights.
