Welcome to the SOH Radio network, a proud sponsor of Shen Yun Performing Arts.  My name is Jason Wegener and today we’ll be looking at the latest performance by the Shen Yun Touring Company in Raleigh, North Carolina on Saturday the 16th of January.  We spoke with Mr L.D. Burris after the show to find out what he thought of Shen Yun.

My name is L.D. Burris, and I am the Co-Artistic Director of a Duo dance company based here in Triangle, called “2 Near the Edge” dance company.  I have been living and dacning in the Triangle for a little bit for more than 15 years.  And so being someone who knows dancing and sees, knows how to dance, I could tell these dancers were really vigorously trained and are very polished and professional when it comes to performance.

The dance was really strong, conveyed a wonderful message about Chinese people, certain aspects of Chinese cultures which were really… I didn’t know about.  It was really nice to be… sort of have my eyes open about some other things and answers about Chinese culture.  Actually, some years ago I danced with a woman who had done some Chinese dance, she created a work with me, and I learned a little bit…but this was really magnificent.  I meant it just opened my eyes about so much more.  I loved the storyline and the costumes, especially.  Is there anywhere I can buy any of those costumes?… [laughing loudly]…. Yea, right!  You know, costumes were just amazing.  And I think the whole program was just wonderful.  Actually, made me, gave me, I have a question which I should’ve asked, is, I know that Chinese opera is probably one of the oldest singing form of, you know, sort of professional singing style, and it was just so passionate and moving that I just want to, I also want to know where I can buy CDs of Chinese opera… [laughing loudly]… So, I am going to look for some music of Chinese opera music, because I love opera myself.  So, it’s fascinating and wonderful show.  Thank you!

So there you have it… If you would like more information go to the Shen Yun website: www.shenyunperformingarts.org The show now moves onto the Orpheum Theatre, Memphis, Tennessee on Tuesday the 19th of  January. “Thanks for joining us for this special coverage of the Shen Yun Performing Arts tour, I’m Jason Wegener for the SOH Radio Network.
