Music Director Stacy Towar from a Rockies Radio Station

“Welcome to the SOH Radio network, a proud sponsor of Shen Yun Performing Arts. My name is Jason Wegener and in this program we’ll be looking at the latest performance by the Shen Yun Touring Company in Denver, Colorado on Saturday April the 17th.  We spoke with Stacy Towar, a music director for a Radio Station in the Rockies after the show to find out what she thought of her Shen Yun experience.”

Stacey: My name is Stacy Towar. I’m the music director for Radio Station in the Rockies. I heard about the performance through friends of mine.

Reporter: How did you like the show?

Stacey: It was beautiful. I mean it really is, it’s the third time that I’ve seen it, and every year is different, but equally amazing every year, and even though I’m a music person I think that the costuming and the dance really stands out the most to me, even though music brings true to me, the visuals are so amazing it’s hard to top them, but I think that with the live performance with the orchestra really adds so much to it. That was kind of rambling.

Aspects that I loved? If you look at just the solo vocalists, the depth in their performances and just the emotion without…I mean it’s just you on stage, and for them to relate such emotion just through their voices is amazing. So that was one aspect. And then…it seemed like you got a picture of so many different pieces of the culture through the different dances, and one of my favorites was the Tibetan dance of praise. It really seemed more…the costuming seemed more intricate this year, and the using…I know that they talked about the silver being a part of that culture, and they utilize that as a…almost like an instrument, because as they dance you could hear the silver moving, and so I thought that that added such a neat element to it. For the dancers to make it look so easy, and that in itself is an art, and lightness of…you’re doing all of these acrobatics, and yet when you listen, it’s so quiet, and the way they land is so…it’s awesome.

Reporter: Do you like the Mount Everest on the background? It was a Tibetan dance, that’s Mount Everest.

Stacey: Oh. That was awesome. All of the backgrounds were. They added an extra element to story itself, and so it really kind of sucked you in because you had that broader background.

“Thanks for joining us for this special coverage of the Shen Yun Performing Arts tour, I’m Jason Wegener for the SOH Radio Network.”
