Shen Yun stages its premiere performance at the ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre, The Edge, Auckland Central.

Shen Yun was warmly welcomed to Auckland, New Zealand for its first of four performances on Friday 30th April .  Hello everyone, this is Grace Mann from the SOH Radio Network. Today’s report comes from this evening premiere performance staged at the ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre, The Edge, Auckland Central.

Before listening to our report, here is a little insight into the New Zealand capital.

Situated in the North Island of New Zealand, Auckland is the largest and most populous urban area in the country, with a population of around  1.4 million residents, which represents 31 percent of the country’s population.

Officially declared New Zealand’s capital in 1841, Auckland straddles what is known as the Auckland Volcanic Field, which is said to have produced in the vicinity of 50 volcanoes.

With its warm-temperate climate, warm, humid summers and mild, damp winters, Auckland is home to many cultures. Not only does it have the largest Polynesian population of any city around the globe, it so to boasts ethnic groups from all corners of the world, making it by far, New Zealand’s most cosmopolitan city.

The beautiful city Auckland, is the first  to welcome Shen Yun on the Oceania leg of its 2010 global tour.

Our show reporter spoke with second time audience member at a Shen Yun performance Mr Gary Deverne.  Let’s now listen to Mr. Deverne’s words of praise for this evening’s Shen Yun performance. [audio]

There will be further shows in Auckland ‘til Sunday 2nd May. Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium will welcome Shen Yun  from Friday April 30th –Tuesday 11th May, and Adelaide, will host  Australia’s first Shen Yun performances on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th May.
