Welcome to the Shen Yun Review brought to you by the SOH Network. I’m Grace Mann. Today I’m bringing you audience comments from recent Shen Yun performances around the world, as well as letting you know about upcoming dates.

In case you hadn’t heard, Shen Yun performs story-based dances including stories of bravery and courage in modern-day China; and in which people of faith are ultimately rewarded for their conviction. But what do global audiences think about Shen Yun? Let’s take a listen to audience members tell the delight and wonder of their Shen Yun experiences.

Firstly we visit the Citi Performing Arts Center, Wang Theatre, Boston, Massachusetts where, Loretta Sanford environmental safety consultant and owner of 7 Generations Inc., shares her heart-felt feelings after seeing Shen Yun for the first time (audio).

Next we visit Fort Lauderdale, Florida where we hear from Victor Mendelson and his teenage daughter Nicole. They attended one of the Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company’s three-show run at the Broward Center. Mr Mendelson wanted his daughter to learn about Chinese culture. By all accounts, they were both thrilled by the display of China’s 5,000-year-old traditional culture (audio).

Staying at the Broward Center for Performing Arts we now hear from South African attorney and company director Dr Carnie Matisonn (audio).

As with other audience members, our interviewees were deeply inspired by the rich spirit of ancient culture brought forth in the Shen Yun performances they’d attended. Shen Yun Performing Arts brings to life classical Chinese dance and music in a gloriously colourful and exhilarating show.

Upcoming Shen Yun performances will be in Philadelphia, PA, 22nd to 23rd Feb and Memphis, TN on the 26th Feb. Frankfurt, Germany will host Shen Yun shows on 26th to 27th Feb with Little Rock, Arkansas welcoming Shen Yun on 28th Feb. Sydney, Australia concludes its epic two-and-a-half week Shen Yun season with two performance on 23rd Feb, before travelling onto Australia’s Victorian capital Melbourne.

SOH Network is a proud sponsor of Shen Yun Performing Arts. For all information and ticket enquires please visit www.shenyunperformingarts.org.

As the fifth-largest city in Australia, Adelaide has a population of approximately 1.3 million, making it the most populated city in South Australia. Adelaide was founded in 1836 and named in honour of Queen Adelaide, the German-born consort of King William IV. Prior to British settlement, the Adelaide area was inhabited by the Kaurna (pronounced “Garner” or “Gowna”) Aboriginal nation.
Early Adelaide was shaped on foundations of spiritual freedom , a commitment to civil liberties and advancement in political education, by its early forefathers, which led to world-first reforms.
The economy in Adelaide is primarily based on manufacturing, defence technology and research, commodity export and corresponding service industries.
Today, Adelaide is noted for its many festivals and sporting events, its food, wine and culture, and of course its long and magnificent beachfronts.
According to The Economist’s World’s most liveable cities’ index, Adelaide continues to rank in the Top 10, as one of the world’s most liveable cities.

Charles and Carole shared with our reporter on the scene, how much they really liked the show. There did not seem to be a favorite. Let us listen…

Welcome to SOH Radio Network. I am Corinne Malaske, your host for the Shen Yun Performing Arts production (previously – Divine Performing Arts) in Canberra, Australia. What a beautiful country full of variety. Say, did you just see that artful dodger-a kangaroo i think? Coulda been a wallyabee, but it was pretty big, large tail, ears and a long nose. He was following those chinese dancers into the theater. i think he must want to be part of the show. Uh-oh, closing the door in a kangeroo’s face can be tricky business. Those back feet are pretty impressive, as is Australia. We in the West tend to think of these as cute critters and they turn our minds to the wonders and mysteries that are Australia.

Kidding aside. Australia has a rythm of drums from the land. All rythms blending themselves, It’s people and Its’ cultures. A different land, yet not so different. The language and accents teasing our ears and hearts. Do not be deceived. Much like the kangaroo and koala bears. They look warm, cute and playful, but under the charm, strong determined cultures and people flow. The land downunder it is called, everything, everyplace, every person and deed has a rythym to it and around it. It is many things.

Today, the audiences heard the rythm of the music and drums of Shen Yun. An opportunity to experience a new thunder and heartbeat. An ancient rythym, yet of the present as well, running through the ages. Shen Yun is sweeping through this land of Australia. I have here thoughts and comments from Mr. Alistair Coe and friend, Kath. Alistair is with A.C.T. So, let’s give a listen.

[ For those who cannot hear---How did you feel about the show? I thought it was wonderful. I thought all the scenes were amazing. The colors were great. The messages they got across were wonderful. It was a really great performance.

What parts attracted you the most? There were so many good parts. So many aspects of the show. I thought the colors, energy and the enthusiasm of the dancers was fantastic. There was no particular part that I thought was better than the others. I thought they were all fantastic.

Do you think this show will teach people more about chinese culture? Yes, I think alot of people don't know or understand what traditional chinese culture is and shows like this will help them understand better.

Do you think it would be good to perform these shows in china, impossible at this moment?
I very much support freedom of association, freedom of religion and freedom of speech. So, I think anything that can help bring that about would be for the best.

Are you going to introduce this show to your colleagues in the MCP? Sure, I would very much encourage people to see the show. it is a great event. Certainly, a great experience where you get to understand more of chinese culture.

How do you think the show can help people understand the culture part? I think for any foreign culture, it is sometimes hard for people far away to understand that culture. So, presenting culture through dance and theater, as I think this show does, is very effective.]

In tonight’s audience were Christine and Brian Daniell, board members, trainers and producers of radio programs for the blind and anyone else who cannot read for any number of reasons. The programs read the daily newspaper and books ina serial format. She produces her own program, ‘Evergreen,’ Perhaps you have heard of it. Let’s hear their thoughts on the show.

[ For those who can't listen - Its' beautiful! It's bringing a message. The people are very talented, very sincere and the colors are beautiful! It is something we have never experienced before.

What part made the deepest impression on you? (Christine) The Falun Gong meditation scene. The opening performance with the men dancing. It's just excellent. It's beautiful! It's bringing a message. The people are very talented, very sincere and the colors are beautiful. It is something we have never experienced before. We have seen people who practice Falun Gong outside the embassy. So, we know they are behind it (the production?).]

Whew! That sounded intrepid. It is not a secret that many of the dancers and people bringing you these wonderful preformances practice Falun Gong’s principles of truth, compassion and forbearance. Lofty values all, can we find fault with any of them. Rather, they celebrate these principles by weaving them into the fabric and rythym of their lives. As in anything else, it is for us to view the many aspects of things before we decide. Take a look at their websites, talk to them and decide for yourself. Ancient Tales of Wisdom at SOH Radio Network is full of wonderful stories of these values which you may find within your own rythyms.

This has been Corinne Malaske for SOHnetwork.com. Have Great Days.
