Welcome to the Shen Yun Review brought to you by the SOH Network, I’m Craig Richter. Today I’ll be bringing you a selection of audience comments from recent Shen Yun Performances from around the World.

The Civic Opera House, is one of Chicago’s historic landmarks and among the world’s most beautiful buildings. Built in 1929 and fully restored in 1996, the Civic Opera House is a hybrid of Art Nouveau and Art Deco designs and a majestic setting for entertaining on any scale.

It’s no wonder Shen Yun Performing Arts call it home during part of its 2012 world tour, the theatre has excellent sight lines and intricate architectural detailing, making it a fantastic and unique venue.

Jesse White Secretary of State of Illinois was impressed with the voices of the singers and said they, ‘Were something outstanding’ (audio).

Drama Actor Helen Jean Arthur and her friend Margaret Emory saw Shen Yun, Helen was very moved by the story of oppression in modern China (audio).

Chrissy Sara a TV Producer loved the dance of the lotus leaves, and was amazed by the live orchestra.

The SOH Network is a proud sponsor of Shen Yun Performing Arts. For tickets and information visit www.shenyunperformingarts.org.

Welcome to the Shen Yun Review brought to you by the SOH Network, I’m Craig Richter. Today I’ll be bringing you a selection of audience comments from recent Shen Yun Performances from around the World.

The Regent Theatre is in the heart of Melbourne, Australia, and central to almost everything in the city centre. As you climb the stairs and enter the foyer with it’s marble and brass stair cases, balconies and painted ceiling depicting knightly scenes in armour, you become aware of the luxury and regality of the building you have just entered.

The theatre seats 2,162 people on a lower and top floor as well as stalls along the theatres sides, the roof is a marvel with no less than 11 chandlers surrounding one very large chandler in a finely sculpted, domed ceiling. All this makes for a very fitting venue for the Shen Yun Performing Arts Company.

Our first interview is with Charles DeLong an 0pera singer, Charles felt as if taken to another world by the Shen Yun performance (audio).

Next we speak with Laura Anderson, chairman of the Loreale Melbourne Fashion Festival. Laura thought Shen Yun was all about spirituality and beauty (audio).

Finally we speak with Rod Dalglish General Manager of Variety, the Children’s Charity. Rod said Shen Yun was an absolutely brilliant show (audio).

Welcome to the SOH Network’s Shen Yun Review, where we bring you audience comments on the 2012 Shen Yun world tour, I’m Trevor Piper. With one of Shen Yun’s three performance companies now in Europe, we will soon be hearing from audiences there, but for this week we stay in Washington DC.

But just in case you haven’t caught on to the phenomenon that is Shen Yun, here’s a little of what you can expect. Shen Yun brings to life 5,000 years of Chinese civilization through classical Chinese dance and music.

The show moves quickly through regions, dynasties, and legends. Ethnic and folk dances fill the stage with colour and energy. Tremendous athleticism, thunderous battle drums, and masterful vocalists are all set to animated backdrops that transport you to another world.

Now back to Washington DC and the John. F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts. The venue is the busiest performing arts centre in the United States, home to the Washington National Opera and affiliated with the National Symphony Orchestra.

At 190 metres long and 19 metres high the Kennedy Centre’s Grand Foyer is one of the largest rooms in the world running the full width of the building in front of the three main theatres. And it was in one of these theatres, the Kennedy Centre Opera House, where Shen Yun performed. The Opera House seats well over 2,000 and features a distinctive red and gold curtain, a gift from Japan, and a Lobmeyer crystal chandelier, a gift from Austria.

And now a chance to hear what the audience made of Shen Yun’s perfomance at the Opera House.

We begin with sales consultant Dave Brady who found Shen Yun quite an experience, not only did he appeciate it’s elegance and beauty but also found a deeper inner message (audio).

And now we hear from two generations of dancers, mother and daughter, Mary and Christina Katic who said the costumes and choreography were just wonderful. Mary brought seventeen people from her dance studio, both students and parents, to see the show and said they all loved it (audio).

Washington DC was built using plans from some of the great cities of Europe, including Paris, Amsterdam and Milan it incorporates several architectural styles including neoclassical, Georgian and Gothic. It features broad streets and avenues providing open space landscaping. It is home to some of the brightest minds in America and most influential people on the planet, including the US president and his family.

The John. F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts would have to be the most prestigious art centre in America and presents the greatest examples of music, dance and theatre while serving the nation as leader in arts education. It’s no surprise then that it’s home to Shen Yun Performing Arts Company during part of it’s 2012 World Tour.

In today’s review we hear how film maker Will Lomborn enjoyed the live experience and energy of Shen Yun (audio).

Financial advisers Dave and Elissa Yeske loved Shen Yun, Dave found Shen Yun very educational (audio).

Welcome to the Shen Yun Review, where you get to hear for yourself how Shen Yun has touched the hearts of audiences around the world. Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is a triumph of collaboration, bringing together over a hundred of the world’s foremost classically trained Chinese dancers, choreographers, musicians, and vocalists.

This week’s review is from Seattle. Marion Oliver McCaw Hall at Seattle Center is the region’s premier performance venue and includes the state-of-the-art 2,900-seat Susan Brotman Auditorium. McCaw Hall opened in June 2003 as a renovation of the Seattle Opera House. The hall has two world-class resident performing arts tenants, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Seattle Opera.

McCaw Hall is a striking building with elegant lobbies fronted by a luminous five-story serpentine glass wall and an almost 18,000-square-foot public plaza. The Hall’s design emphasizes elegance balanced with flexibility and functionality.
